About DADA
Welcome to DADA ( Dad’s Against Dirty Air).
We are a new and growing charity that aims to promote positive changes in communities when it comes to Children’s health and our personal impact on the environment. Started as an experiment to find ways to engage ‘common residents’ in taking small steps to ‘be green’, DADA has begun a small movement that is engaging caring parents, teachers and students, to reach out to others, asking them to BE IDLE FREE FOR THE KIDS!
DADA was started as an initiative to bring together caring parents and citizens who want to do their part to make the world a better place for their children and their future.
It started with a couple of questions:
How can one person make a difference, in their community, at their schools, or for their family?
The answer was to bring together LIKE-MINDED individuals to collaborate and work together to reach a broader audience than we could on our own. Also, to empower the energy and passion in others by making it easy to take a ready-to-go program and promote it in their community.
How can we engage people, who would not otherwise be 'green', to consider changing their habits for the sake of their children and neighbours?
Changing habits is hard! Community Based Social Marketing initiaitives like DADA's, promotes an emotional reason for people to change, that is greater than the habit they are holding onto. For some the motivation is saving $300 in gas each year, or being a good neighbour, but the most powerful reason that most parents would understand, is to DO IT FOR THE KID'S - their safety, health and future that they will inherit from us!
IN many cases, with a little coaching and a worthy reason why, a 'Eureka' moment occurs and people see that being green is not that hard to do ( turning a key!) and they feel good doing it and are acting as responsible role models that their kids can be proud of. Its our hope that people will then seek other ways to be green, at home or at work and then help spread the message to get their friends and neighbours involved in creating safe neighbourhoods everywhere.

DADA makes it easy for schools and caring community leaders, to promote the message to be IDLE FREE. All that is needed is a CLEAN AIR CHAMPION that will lead the initiative to get signs up and messages in newsletters, and to parents directly.
